Youth Theatre helps Sandton children overcome anxiety
Story 1
Youth theatre at Theatre on the Square in Sandton, which opened its production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on March 31, is helping children aged 10–25 overcome anxiety through performances and hands-on activities.
Participants act, build props and collaborate in mentorship programmes.
Older performers guide younger ones, teaching teamwork, responsibility and practical skills.
Through rehearsals and stage work, the youth gain confidence, express themselves, and develop social connections.
Director Kerry Anne Beldon says the programme shows how theatre can help children grow, learn discipline and find a place where they belong.
