Gauteng Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko praised Reach for a Dream for creating a new Dream Room at Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria, saying she hopes the organisation continues to make more children’s dreams come true.
The Dream Room gives young patients a safe space to play, learn, and relax while waiting for treatment.
It is equipped with books, toys, games, and virtual reality experiences, all guided by trained psychology graduates who support children’s emotional well-being and development.
Nkomo-Ralehoko said the initiative helps children cope with illness and brings hope and joy to their hospital visits.

University of Johannesburg distributes food parcels to students

The University of Johannesburg handed out food parcels to students on March 25 at its Auckland Park Kingsway Campus.
The distribution forms part of its Meal Assistance Programme, run with Johnson Community Development NPC, which supplies surplus food.
Since July 2024, the programme has delivered more than 8,000 food packs across UJ campuses. The latest drive added about 2,000 packs.
The university provides groceries to students each month to help them manage rising living costs and stay focused on their studies.

Grade 10 learners in Soweto are gaining tools to boost their school performance and prepare for future careers in a rapidly changing digital world, thanks to a donation of 92 AI-powered learning tablets from iOCO Technology Group and Oden.Africa.
The tablets, distributed through the Kliptown Youth Program, include curriculum content, past papers, and tests, and learners can take them home to complete homework.
Students use the devices to improve performance in subjects like maths while the program tracks progress and helps them develop digital skills needed for tomorrow’s job market.
