Tshwane ramps up fight in corruption

The City of Tshwane has ramped up efforts to fight fraud and corruption by introducing safer, more confidential reporting systems. MMC for Corporate and Shared Services, Kholofelo Morodi, says the city now offers secure walk-in facilities and anonymous channels for whistle-blowers to report unethical behaviour without fear. Reports can be made in person at Tshwane House, Sammy Marks, or submitted via email.So far, over 900 cases have been investigated highlighting the value and impact of these accessible systems.

South Africa’s Constitutional Court has struck down a law that took away citizenship from people who became citizens of another country. The law, in place since 1995, required South Africans to get special permission to keep their citizenship before getting another one. If they didn’t, they automatically lost it.The court ruled that this law went against the Constitution and ordered that all affected people must have their South African citizenship restored. The Democratic Alliance (DA), which challenged the law, argued it was unfair and served no real purpose. The court agreed, and delivered the unanimous decision.
