The second G20 Culture Working Group meeting will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre from today.
The session will serve as a platform for in-depth discussions on the Safeguarding and restitution of cultural heritage in upholding and protecting human rights and the Integration of cultural policies into socio-economic strategies, to promote inclusive and rights-based development.
The gathering will also highlight the leveraging of digital technologies for the preservation, promotion, and sustainability of culture.
The gathering forms part of South Africa’s G20 Presidency, the first to be hosted on African soil.

The North West Provincial Government has embarked on a process to recruit unemployed graduates from the North-West University.
This follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding, that aims to curb the high unemployment rate in the province.
The unemployed graduates will assist with research, sports and mining, amongst other assignments.
The university’s Vice Chancellor Professor Bismark Tyobeka says a strict recruitment process will be followed.

The Democratic Republic of Congo has become the latest African country to grant a licence to tech billionaire Elon Musk's Starlink.
The satellite internet provider is rapidly expanding its services on the continent and is live in more than a dozen countries.
Starlink was also granted licenses by Somalia and Lesotho in the month of April.
Congo has low connectivity, with around 30% of the population having access to the internet as of 2023.
