Tanzania Lifts Ban for SA

Tanzania has lifted a ban on imports of agricultural produce from Malawi and South Africa. This comes days after imposing it in retaliation for similar measures imposed by the two southern African nations. Tanzania Plant Health and Pesticides Authority director-general Joseph Ndunguru said that Tanzania was lifting the ban effective immediately to allow for “a diplomatic ministerial discussion”. South Africa’s international relations minister Ronald Lamola has welcomed Tanzania’s decision.

The proposed extension of the Gauteng Rapid Rail Integrated Network has been received with excitement among residents of Fourways and Randburg.The project aims to connect the existing Marlboro Station to Soweto through Randburg, Fourways, and Little Falls amongst other areas. Gautrain Senior Executive Manager for Communications, Albi Modise, says the project will create over 211 000 direct jobs and spend an estimated 1.6billion rand on skills and enterprise development.

Britain could gain 400 billion pounds from artificial intelligence-driven economic growth if it trained its workforce. According to Google pilot programs in the country showed that workers could save more than 120 hours a year by using AI in administrative tasks. Simple steps, such as giving workers permission to use AI and a few hours of training to get them started, could help double the adoption of the new technology and in turn boost economic growth.
