Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, has launched the Gauteng Public Transport Women’s Help Desk in Johannesburg on Thursday.

The initiative aims to address specific challenges encountered by women in the transport sector and aims to transform the transportation sector into a fair and inclusive space.
This will be actualized by means of customized training, mentorship, leadership cultivation, and access to essential networks in the industry.

Government has launched phase 5 of the Basic Education Employment initiative,
as part of efforts to address the high youth unemployment rate.

The initiative forms part of the Presidential employment stimulus, designed to offer young South Africans aged 18 to 34 a six month opportunity to gain work experience, earn an income and build critical employability skills.

Applications for more than 204 000 temporary positions in Scholls across the country have been opened.

Pan-African tech firm Cassava Technologies has announced plans to build the continent’s first AI factory in South Africa.

The move will see artificial intelligence software being deployed at the company’s data centres in South Africa from June 2025.

The firm, which was founded by Zimbabwean businessman Strive Masiyawa, says its accelerated computing platforms will play a crucial role in Africa’s AI ecosystem.
