The North-West University, has announced that its soon-to-be-established medical school will be named after the late archbishop Desmond Tutu.
The official naming ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Capital on the Park Hotel in Sandton.
The decision was taken in consultation with the Archbishop Desmond Tutu IP Trust.
The project is a collaborative effort between the NWU, the Northwest department of health and private sector stakeholders.

SASSA gold cards will continue to be functional beyond the 31st of May

The Postbank has confirmed that South African Social Security Agency Gold Cards will continue to be functional beyond the 31st of May.
The Postbank, says SASSA Gold Cards will continue to work across all payment systems, including ATMs and POS machines.
Beneficiaries can continue to withdraw cash at all Postbank’s partner retail stores and can continue swiping for purchases.
The move follows a temporary pause in the distribution of the new black cards,
which officials said was to stabilize the transition.

Bi-National Commission held in Lesotho to establish water resource development

South Africa and the Kingdom of Lesotho have signed a Memorandum of Understanding,
to establish a new framework for cooperation in water resource development along the Caledon River.
The agreement outlines joint efforts for the proposed construction of two weirs on the Mohokare/ Caledon River, and to ensure efficient management and sustainable development of the water resources.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Water and Sanitation Pemmy Majodina and Lesotho’s Minister of Natural Resources, Mohlomi Moleko,
during the 2nd Session of the Bi-National Commission, co-chaired by Lesotho’s Prime Minister, Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
