The first Black South African woman in 33 years has graduated with a masters degree in Topology with Distinction at Rhodes University.Thobile Ngcampha lala graduated with a Master’s degree in Pure Mathematics with Distinction. Her achievement marks a powerful moment in the story of academic excellence at Rhodes University.Thobile began her studies through the extended curriculum programme. A route designed to support students who need more time and often comes with its own challenges. She used it as a foundation to rise, earning a BSc (Hons) in Pure Mathematics with Distinction and then completing her Master’s degree in just one year.

Cricket South Africa partners with Suzuki

Cricket South Africa has announced that the Proteas have signed a multi-year partnership with Suzuki. This is their first headline sponsor since 2020. The car brand will be the Men’s and Women’s One-Day International teams' partner.The Proteas have had various associate sponsors, and last year signed a three-year deal with Indian betting company Dafabet.
As part of this partnership, Suzuki has contributed 30 vehicles to CSA’s Development Hubs, helping to support the growth of the game at grassroots levels.

Possible life found on planet K2-18b

Scientists have found new but tentative evidence that a faraway world orbiting another star may be home to life. A Cambridge team studying the atmosphere of a planet called K2-18b has detected signs of molecules which on Earth are only produced by simple organisms.
This is the second, and more promising, time chemicals associated with life have been detected in the planet's atmosphere by Nasa's James Webb Space Telescope.Prof Nikku
