# The City of Johannesburg’s Department of Economic Development is inviting qualified organisations to submit proposals for a three-year partnership focused on economic growth through SMME support, accredited artisanal and digital skills training, job placement, market access, and data digitisation.
Proposals must demonstrate accreditation, expertise, and sustainability strategies. Eligible companies may submit proposals by 19 May 2025 at 4pm. Late submissions will not be considered. The City expressed its commitment to building inclusive, sustainable local economies.

Small Business Development Minister Stella Ndabeni has engaged township entrepreneurs in New Brighton, Gqeberha, during the Eastern Cape leg of the G20 provincial launch. The discussions centred on strengthening informal and township economies to drive inclusive economic growth. While many welcomed the platform, some entrepreneurs voiced concerns about ongoing challenges and limited support. The engagement forms part of a broader national effort to highlight small business development ahead of the G20 summit.

The event was, a UNESCO Creative City of Music, with a star-studded concert led by jazz icon Herbie Hancock and hosted by actor Jeremy Irons. world-renowned artists from across genres and continents, were headined to showcase jazz’s power to unite and inspire. International Jazz Day was established to promote peace, cultural dialogue, and diversity, reaching over 2 billion people annually through global performances and educational programs.
